About Us

In 1997, members of the Healthy Caldwellians Task Force met to discuss the health care  needs of the uninsured in Caldwell County.  After completing an extensive countywide assessment, the committee determined there were thousands of people at risk for medical indigence and that there was a definite need for a free clinic.  Grant money from the Duke Endowment Foundation, the Cannon Foundation as well as support from churches, businesses and individuals made it possible for the Helping Hands Clinic to open its doors on August 13, 1998.

The Helping Hands Clinic is a non-profit organization that serves uninsured residents of Caldwell County.  Our mission is to provide quality medical care and prescription medications to low-income, uninsured residents of Caldwell County.  Our targeted client constituency is those at risk for medical indigence.  This target group includes women, children, the working poor and low-income senior adults.

All patients must be residents of Caldwell County and meet certain financial guidelines.  Persons with insurance or Medicaid are not eligible.
